English Valley Farms is owned and operated by Jim and Heather Scott. Our farm is
located in the beautiful English Creek Valley in Knoxville, Iowa. On our farm you will
find Iowas natural beauty at its best with hard wood timber, abundant wildlife, and
simply unbeatable grazing.
On our farm we raise Full Blood and percentage Boer goats. Only the best quality
Full Blood goats are registered with the American Boer Goat Association. We raise
our Full Blood Boers for herd improvement breeding stock and our unregistered
goats for meat or replacement breeders. In our herd you will find bloodline from
ennobled bucks such as "EGGsorcist", "Pistolero", and "Starbuck". In the fall of 2007
we decided to expand. Not more goats but a non competitive livestock. We have
started to purchase miniature cattle. Our focus will be on meat production, not
registered cattle. The breed that caught our attention are the Lowline Angus. A
docile breed, and hornless. The compact sizes are more suitable for small farm
operations. Like other livestock your sire is half the herd. We purchased a Full Blood
Lowline Bull and cross cows. We also purchased a 7/8 blood Lowline heifer. In spring
of 2008 we plan to purchase a few head of feeder pigs to raise outdoors and
medication free. We also will have poultry to sell for butcher. All meat animal sales
are expected to be on site sales with delivery to a local locker. Poultry can be
processed on site.
Our goats are at pasture in spring through fall. We feed our livestock supplemental
feed mixed by a local feed service, Pella Feed Service, a family owned and operated
feed service. Similar to my family they have a down to earth, personal relationship
with the customers, and high standards at competitive prices that keep you coming in
the door.
