Welcome to English Valley Farms.
English Valley Farm is owned and operated by Jim and Heather Scott. Our farm is
located in the beautiful English Creek Valley in Knoxville, Iowa. On our farm you will
find Iowas natural beauty at its best with hard wood timber and abundant wildlife.
In the fall of 2008 we sold the entire herd of Boer Goats. We have shifted our focus
to raising a few calves, pigs and poultry for local sale to friends and family. We have
decided to go back to the basics and teach our children how to raise what you need.
We purchased a pony for my wife and daughter to ride and groom to fulfill their
"horse craze". I can see the little cowgirl will be very active in 4H when she is old
enough. We would like to thank everyone who we have had a chance to work with in
the past for there business and advise for problem solving. We wish the best for
anyone in the commercial goat business and are willing to share any knowledge we
have for anyone with questions.
In spring 2008 we planted an addition 200 trees to the already well populated
hardwood timbers. The new plantings are in a food plot clearing to establish habitat
and food source for quail, pheasants and turkeys. With a mix of red cedar, swamp
white, white ,black, red and burr oak and black walnut. A small plot of corn was
planted to be left through the winter months. We have swept the yard free of hickory
nuts and acorns and spread them through the timber for winter food. A small portion
will survive the wildlife and become a future stand of timber. In Spring 2009 we will be
adding food plots and some native big bluestem grass along with a mix of clover to
the pasture for habitat. I have purchase 250 Ringneck pheasant chicks to raise for
release to the wild. With a little luck some will survive and establish themselves.
